It is with great regret and sadness that I have to announce the passing of Ex FS Mover Mr Robin Stevenson who sadly passed away last week. Robin served at many RAF Stations, and at the RAFMS as an Instructor, before leaving the RAF to join the Police force where he served for 15 years behind the scenes. There will be a service on Thursday 10th June 2010 at Headington Crematorium Oxford at 12.45pm and then on to the Chequers Pub Brize Norton Village. Any friends and former colleges are welcome to attend.

Was Robin known as Bob?

John, I hope you are well.
I was wondering the same thing as you. I have just got back from Afghan and saw this sad news. I have a feeling that it is the same person as this was his locality. I had seen Bob Stevenson only last December...he worked for the Rotary club/local round table I think (and for the Thames Valley Police!). He came round the streets with the Santa float for the kids.
I also chatted to Bob last summer in Carterton and he seemed very well. I hope it isn't the same person, but I fear that it is. He could be a tough person to work for...but deep down he was a decent fella I think . Maybe someone can enlighten us as to whether it is ' Bob'. I may well go to the Chequers on the 10th if it is the same person.

I can confirm that Robin Stevenson is the same Bob that you were talking of.
The Family do not wish for flowers, but a collection will be taken for The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
It would be nice to see Ex colleagues from the Forces, Police, and Lions Club attend this Service.
Those members still serving May wear uniform if they wish.

I was wondering the same as above post, was it Bob Stevenson, very Sad, my Sincere condolences. Bob Stevenson and Dave Wall were our Instructors on our Operators Course in 1980, and our Controllers Course i think. A really Sad Loss.

Sad news...Bob was the instructor on my Operators course in 1980. Our paths never crossed again, I was destined to be over on the Herc fleet, I think Bob was a "Brize" guy.
I do recall, Valentines Day, 1980. Bob came in and was in a real bad mood, chewing our collective arses off. He had been sent a card that day and it would appear Mrs S. had not seen the funny side. However, on questioning us, and finding that none of us knew his real Christian name, I suppose we all thought it was Robert, rather than Robin, he had the grace to apologise.
Best wishes to his family. Rick "Dibs" Loveridge.

Sincere condolences to his family, I remember Bob from when I was on my Operators in 79. I think he may have been on the School when I was a SAC there 84-87, a very nice and quiet bloke, a sad loss.

Just found out....he was my Co-Ord BZZ B shift for a while....I can always remember him putting a Cystic Fibrosis collection tin next to the dart board in the crew room for those who got less than 26. As I remember it soon got full up. Which I think made him smile with how bad we actually were and that his charity was getting a good collection. He even put one in the Co-Ords office as a swear box. I agree with peeps a tough task master most of the time.
Sad, sad loss. condolences to everyone who actually knew him and his family.

He was a nice guy and treated us AC's with respect. I was at Brize for Mov Ops course in 1980 too.
A sad loss.

I to was sorry to see this too late to have paid my respects.
I first met Bob when we were apprentices at Hereford and later in Bahrain.
I left the RAF in the mid 70's to join Thames Valley Police.
I again met Bob, first at the end of the Radio, I recognised his voice when he was based in the headquarters control room. I made the point of making his acquaintance again. I later worked with bob on many operations and whilst on duty. He was a first class operator and I always felt confident of getting things done.
I left the Police and lost contact with Bob and certainly didn't see anything throughout their media and other channels.
